
For the third-straight game and second in a row against Franklin-Simpson, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels failed to get on the scoreboard in the first quarter on the way to a 45-31 loss to the host Lady Wildcats in the 13th-District tournament.
The Lady Rebels fail to advance in the district tourney for the third year in a row, ending the season on a five-game losing slide to finish 7-13 overall.
Franklin-Simpson advances to its first district championship game since a title in 2016/17. The Lady Wildcats await the winner of Wednesday’s Russellville vs. Logan County semifinal.
Todd Central found itself in a 10-0 hole after the first quarter, before Lucy Chester and Alexis Taylor combined for 8 points to get the Lady Rebels going in the second frame. Hadley Turner and Malyea Partinger each scored 4 for the Lady Wildcats and they led 22-10 at the half.
Neither team broke double figures in the third, with Abby Williams scoring 4 of Todd Central’s 9. Turner added 4 more for the Lady Wildcats and they took an 11-point cushion into the final quarter.
Taylor posted 7 points in the 4th and Jamaia Coleman scored 5, including the only 3-pointer of the game, but Alera Barbee put up 8 for the Lady Wildcats and they were never threatened.
