Conditions weren’t ideal on Thursday for the Hopkinsville girls’ tennis team’s opener at McCracken County, and the results weren’t either as the Lady Tigers dropped all six singles matches and a trio of doubles matchups with the Lady Mustangs.
In a meeting between both teams’ top seeds, McCracken’s Shelby Puryear blanked Allie Fort 8-0. The next three matches ended with 8-1 McCracken wins, with Sophie Hollowell topping Sophie Maddux, Maggie Smith beating Ella Lester, and Madeline Yates handing Abby Moss a loss.
The Lady Tigers’ Ella Brown fell to McCrackens’ Katie Crabtree 8-2, and Hannah Puryear closed out the Lady Mustang singles sweep with an 8-1 victory over Grasen Givens.
In doubles, Hoptown’s Fort and Lester fell 8-2 to S. Puryear and Hollowell, Maddux and Moss dropped an 8-4 decision to Yates and Crabtree, and Morgan Woosley and Elaine Baker lost 8-1 to H. Puryear and Pratha Patel.
