American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie know their music and they certainly knew what they were doing saving Boyle County’s Alyssa Wray for the final performance again Monday night on American Idol on ABC-TV. She combined with 20-year-old college student Grace Kinstler to again overwhelm the judges and easily advance to the Show Stopper round to keep alive her dream of winning American Idol.

The two combined in the duet round on Bruno Mars’ hit “Grenade” as the judges wanted to see how the two “powerhouse vocalists” could do together.

They did just fine.

Richey and Bryan were on their feet not long after the performance started. Perry looked in awe as soon as they started singing.

“It is understood you can take down the building,” Richie said before they started. “Remember one thing, enjoy each other. That’s the key.”

They did that. Kinstler, who lost 100 pounds in high school, called Wray a “great friend” who did not judge her. Wray revealed how she was the “only black kid in class” in elementary school and didn’t see herself as different until then.

“I used what made me different and made it my superpower,” she said of her skin color and loud voice.

When the duo finished, Bryan asked Richie if he had ever been in a room with singers like Wray and Kinstler.

“Absolutely not. Ladies, you just stopped the show,” Richie told the duo. “You are absolutely going through (to the next round).”

Perry was not that restrained with her praise.

“Our job is done. The show is over. Everybody go home,” Perry said.

Well, not everybody because Wray is going on and continues to impress the judges and the nation.
