
Hopkinsville senior pitcher Logan Durst threw four perfect innings, with a lone runner reaching on a catcher’s interference, to help the Hopkinsville Tigers open the season in style with a 25-0 victory over 8th-District rivals Fort Campbell.
The Tigers wasted no time getting started in the top of the first with 6 runs off Falcon starter Aiden Blaszkowski. Landon Snyder doubled and scored on a sacrifice by Durst before Preston Chaudoin tripled to score two. Kaden West singled to bring in Jacob Dilday for the last run of the frame.
Dilday doubled in the second to score 2 for a 9-0 lead, followed by a Kaden West 2-run home run over the left-field fence. The Tigers tacked on 2 more in the third on a Blake Balthrop RBI single and a ground out by Chaudoin.
Hoptown posted a 12-run fourth with RBI singles by Snyder, Durst, and Mason Spain, with the Falcons shooting themselves in the foot with 5 walks, 3 hit by pitch, and an error.
Durst cruised throughout, needing only 47 pitches and striking out 10. He was also 2/4 at the plate with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Chaudoin drove in 4, with 2 hits and 3 runs scored, followed by West with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Snyder and Dilday each drove in 3 with 3 runs scored, with Balthrop, Zach Moss, and Tim Cansler each collecting an RBI.
The Tigers are back on the field on Tuesday when Franklin-Simpson visits, while the Falcons hit the road for a matchup with Todd County Central in Elkton.
