
Todd County Central’s Jase Hampton and Preston Rager combined on a 5-inning no-hitter on Tuesday night in Elkton to rout visiting Fort Campbell 11-0. The Rebels improve to 2-0 for the first time in a decade, while handing the Falcons their second-straight shutout loss to start the season.
Todd Central broke through in the bottom of the 2nd, taking a 2-0 lead after an RBI single by Ty Cotner. Rager, Jacob Brandon, and Cotner each drove in a run in the 3rd for an 8-0 advantage, before Rager doubled-in a pair of runs, and Nate Reding’s sac fly brought in Rager for the final 11-run margin.
Jase Hampton worked the first four innings to pick up the win for the Rebels, striking out 3 and walking one. Rager struck out the side in one inning of work, needing only 13 pitches.
Angel Garcia took the loss for the Falcons, pitching three innings and allowing 11 earned runs on 8 hits. He struck out 2 and walked a couple.
Rager drove in 3 and collected a couple of hits, followed by Cotner with 2 RBI. Jameson Hunt, Grady Reding, Brandon, Nate Reding, and Nathan Ellis each had a hit, with Brandon, Nate Reding, and Ellis each driving in 1.
The Rebels hit the road on Thursday for a matchup with Caverna, while Fort Campbell plays host to UHA on Friday.
