Henderson County looked every bit the 2nd Region softball contender it is expected to be Thursday afternoon. The Lady Colonels tallied nine runs in the bottom of the first inning and continued to roll from there on the way to an 18-3 three-inning win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.

Henderson County took advantage of four walks, a hit batter, and a Lady Tiger error in the first inning as they jumped out to the 9-1 lead. Hopkinsville had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Shaniya Straight drew a bases-loaded walk.

Hoptown cut the lead to 9-3 in the top half of the second on an RBI double from Karli Herrera and Kaitlyn Kaetzel scoring on a wild pitch.

Henderson County would add five runs in the bottom of the 2nd and then close out the game with four more runs to reach the 15-run rule.

Karli Herrera was 2-2 with a double and an RBI to lead the Lady Tigers. Kaitlyn Kaetzel was 1-1, with a walk and two runs scored. Jakayla Grubbs finished 1-1 with a run scored.

In the circle, Hannah Thorson pitched all three innings for Hopkinsville, giving up 18 runs, 12 of them earned, on just seven hits, and walking six.
