
Caldwell County’s softball team rallied from a 7-0 deficit to twice tie Madisonville-North Hopkins.
The Lady Tigers knotted the game at 8-8 in the fifth inning and again at 11-11 in the top of the seventh.
However, Madisonville scored on a one-out RBI single by Brenna Sherman in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 12-11 victory Thursday in Madisonville.
The Lady Maroons (1-1 overall, 1-0 7th District) looked to have things in control when they built a 7-0 lead through three innings.
But Caldwell (0-2, 0-1) battled back to tie things by scoring seven times in the top of the fifth inning to make it 8-8.
Madisonville used a three-run homer by Alarryia Jones in the bottom of the sixth to go up 11-8, but Caldwell again came back to tie things with three runs in the top of the seventh.
Amber Osborne was 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Lady Maroons while Zoe Davis and Kaydence Seargant each went 2-for-4.
For Caldwell, Allie Felker was 3-for-5 and knocked in two. A.J. Hollowell was 2-for-4 and drove in three while Harper Holeman was 2-for-5 and Rylee Thompson was 2-for-4.
It was Madisonville’s 30th straight win over Caldwell going back to the 2008 season.
