A tough start to the 2021 softball season continued Friday evening for the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons. Pitching struggles continue to plague the Lady Falcons in a pair of losses at Christian Fellowship. The Lady Eagles won the first game of a doubleheader 19-4 and then took the nightcap 19-2.
In the opener, the Lady Eagles scored 14 times in the first inning and added five more in the second to claim the win. CFS took advantage of 14 walks in their two at-bats.
For the Lady Falcons, Kalli Bannister was 1-2 on the game. Bannister also drove in the Lady Falcons’ runs with a base hit in the top of the 3rd innings.
In game two, the Lady Eagles again used a big first inning to get control of the game as they rolled to the three-inning win. CFS scored seven runs in the first, ten in the second, and closed out the game with two more in the third, bringing the 15 run rule into play. The Lady Eagles pounded out 13 hits in the win.
Fort Campbell scored in each of its at-bats in the game, plating two runs in the first, and a run in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings.
Hope Balzeski finished the game 1-2 with an RBI. Danika Gonzales was 1-2 with a double and a run scored. Anika Weisbrich was 1-2 with an RBI. Kalli Bannister was 1-1, with a walk and two runs scored for the Lady Falcons.
The Lady Falcons, who now stand at 0-4 on the year, get back to action on April 8 when they host Union County.
