With 3 1st-inning runs and Jacob Brandon in control on the mound, the Todd County Central Rebels led throughout the first half of Friday’s 4th-Region All-A matchup with Glasgow. However, the Scotties rallied over the last four frames for a 6-3 victory, handing the Rebels their first loss of the season.
Riding a three-game winning streak, the Rebels hit the ground running with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Jameson Hunt led off with a single and they loaded the bases after a walk and an error on the Scotties.
Tanner Farmer reached on another error, bringing in Hunt, and Brandon flew out to right field to score Preston Rager. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Brandon was caught stealing to allow Ethan Bicksler to come home.
Brandon only allowed a single hit and a walk over the first three innings, but the Scotties got on the board in the top of the 4th. After the leadoff batter reached on an error, Glasgow’s Xavier Ferreira singled in a run.
The Rebels were done in by a 2-out rally in the 5th, with Glasgow’s Tyler Lane delivering an RBI single and Jackson Poland coming home on a passed ball. In the same at-bat, Cole Stephens doubled on a ball that dropped between a pair of Rebels for a 4-3 Glasgow advantage.
The Scotties added 2 more runs in the top of the 7th and Lane was perfect on the mound over the final three frames to seal the victory. Lane picked up the win, striking out 5 of the 9 batters he faced.
Brandon went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs, 2 earned, on 4 hits with a pair of walks and 6 strikeouts. Rager worked the 6th and 7th, yielding 2 unearned runs on a hit and a walk with 2 strikeouts.
