The Caldwell County Tigers ran into a buzzsaw on the mound Monday afternoon. That buzzsaw came in the form of McCracken County freshman pitcher Ross Aldridge. Alridge limited the Tigers to just two hits on the afternoon as McCracken County rolled to a 10-0 five-inning win in Paducah.
The Mustang offense got Alridge all the support he would need in the bottom of the 2nd inning when they scored a pair of runs on a triple from Nate Lang. The Mustangs would add three more runs in the bottom of the 4th and then close out the game with five runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, the game ending on a two-run double by Dylan Riley.
Tate VanHooser and Brady Holeman each went 1-2 on the day for the Tigers. VanHooser coming up with a double, while Holeman reached base on a single.
Logan Smiley got the start for Caldwell County. Smiley went 4 1/3 innings, giving up 10 earned runs, on eight hits, striking out four, while walking three.
The loss drops Caldwell County to 1-2 on the season.
