Former University Heights Academy guard Tray Hollowell has found a new basketball home. The former Wofford basketball player will be heading to Morehead State as a graduate student and have one year of eligibility for the Eagles.
Hollowell averaged 11.1 points a game in starting every game for the Terriers in 2020-21 while hitting 34.5-percent of his shots behind the arc. The 6-3 combo guard scored a career-high 22 points against Mercer on Jan. 30. Wofford’s season ended Saturday with a loss in the Southern Conference Tournament.
He averaged 7.7 and 1.9 rebounds per game as a junior, starting six games.
NCAA graduate transfer rules allow Hollowell to transfer to a new school and play immediately in 2021-22 so long as he earns a bachelor’s degree from Wofford, which he is on the track to do. A student-athlete is given the fifth year as long as they complete classes at the new school.
Hollowell joins a Morehead State team that was 23-8 and won the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The Eagles were the lone school from Kentucky to play in the 2021 NCAA Tournament where they lost to West Virginia 84-67.
Hollowell will again be teammates with Jaylen Sebree, who was a junior for the Eagles this past season. Hollowell and Sebree were teammates for a time at UHA before Sebree transferred to Christian County.
