Brooklynn Miles is a five-star point guard and Tennessee signee who many consider the frontrunner for Miss Basketball. She averaged 16.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for Franklin County this season and shot 46.5 percent from the field. She will be making her fourth state tournament appearance this afternoon when Franklin County plays South Laurel in Rupp Arena.

“Brooklynn will be the quickest, fastest kid we have played all year,” said South Laurel coach Chris Souder. “She can just change the game so many ways. I am actually more worried about her defensively than offensively. If she ballhawks, she’s hard to get away from. She is just relentless.”

Franklin County coach Joey Thacker says his team is playing its best basketball now and knows Miles is a big reason why. He says his star plays at “warp” speed compared to other players.

“She has also really improved her shooting the last couple of years and something she had to do to be an elite point guard,” Thacker said. “Her ability to speed you up on defense is really what Tennessee is after

“The tempo she plays at and can get others to play at sometimes is uncomfortable for other teams. She has gear I have not seen in high school basketball in a very long time.”
