Cathryn Brown overcame a slow start to shoot the low round of the second day of the Spring College Prep Series at the University Club of Kentucky Sunday. The two-day event is part of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.
The Lyon County sophomore had six bogeys and a birdie in shooting a first-round 87, which left her tied for 12th place.
Brown rebounded Sunday to shoot a 2-over 73. She began her round with three straight birdies and shot a 1-under 34 on the front nine. Her back nine included four bogeys and a birdie on No. 18.
Brown moved up to finish tied for fifth place at 18-over. Hadley Ashton of Erie, Colorado, and Macie Brown of Mount Washington tied for the win at 10-over.
