Six More Teams Announced For ‘Best of the West’

Officials with the annual ‘Best of the West’ 7-on-7 football tournament have announced six more teams that will be taking place later this summer. Last year’s event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The teams announced Friday morning include: Christian County, Logan County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Clarksville, Hopkins County Central, and Macon County. Those teams join Hopkinsville, Bowling Green, South Laurel, Owensboro Catholic, Pearl Cohn, and East Nashville, who were announced in March.

Christian County finished the 2020 season at 1-5, falling to South Warren in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Logan County ended the season at 5-4. The Cougars lost to Hopkinsville in the second round of the 2020 Class 4A playoffs.

Madisonville-North Hopkins played only six games during the 2020 season. The Maroons finished 1-5 and did not make the Class 4A playoff field.

Hopkins County Central also went 1-5 in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season. The Storm lost to Logan County in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs.

Clarksville High School finished the 2020 season at 5-6. The Eagles lost to Clarksville Northeast in the second round of the playoffs.

Macon County ended the year at 6-3. They lost to Marshall County in the opening round of the Tennessee football playoffs.

This year’s Best of the West Passing Tournament is set for July 16-17.
