
Trailing by a couple of runs with an inning to play Friday at Greenup County, the Hopkinsville Tigers erupted for 5 runs to stay perfect on the season with an 8-6 victory over the Musketeers.
The Tigers used five pitchers to secure their 5th win of the season and hand Greenup its second loss in three tries, leaving the Musketeers at 4-2 on the year.
Tiger starter Preston Chaudoin cruised through the first three frames before Greenup broke through in the 4th. A 2-out walk put runners on 1st and 3rd and the Musketeers took a 1-0 lead on a steal of home.
Chaudoin got his revenge in the top of the 5th, homering off Greenup starter Carson Wireman to tie the game. Zach Moss followed with a 2-out single to score 2 and push the Tigers in front.
Tim Cansler took over for Chaudoin in the bottom of the 5th, allowing 2 unearned runs and striking out 2 in an inning of work. Moss came on for the Tigers in the 6th, walking the first batter he faced and hitting the second. Greenup pushed 2 runs across on wild pitches to take a 5-3 edge to the final inning.
Logan Durst doubled to bring in 2 and tie the game, followed by a single by Blake Balthrop to score Durst and nudge the Tigers in front. Jacob Dilday added a pair of insurance runs with a 2-out RBI single.
Chaudoin, Durst, and Balthrop each had 2 hits, and Durst, Moss, and Dilday each drove in a pair of runs. Chaudoin allowed a run on 3 hits with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts over 4 innings. Dilday worked the 7th, allowing an unearned run on a hit.
