Jay Humphries capped off a wild final inning with a walk-off single to give Trigg County an 8-7 win over Ballard Memorial Friday at the Complex.

Trigg appeared to have the game in hand with a 4-2 lead heading into the seventh inning. The Bombers rallied to score five times in the seventh inning, using three hits, a walk, and two Trigg County errors.  Cole Owens and Jacob Irvin had RBI singles in the inning for the Bombers.

Tyler Ahart began the Trigg rally in the seventh with a leadoff single. Trevor Terrell and Stephen Audas followed with singles to load the bases.  Greyson Grissom’s single to right field scored two runs to bring the Wildcats to within a run.

Andrew Williamson tied the game with a double that scored Audas.  After Isaac Peca was intentionally walked to pack the sacks, Humphries drove the first pitch he saw to right field for the game-winner.  Humphries finished 3-for-5 with a pair of runs knocked in.

Trigg County rapped out 15 hits with Williamson, Ahart, Terrell, Audas, Grissom, and Joe Peca each racking up two hits.  Peca’s two hits both drove in runs.

Joe Peca also picked up the pitching win, going the final four innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out seven.  Trey Carr went the first three innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.

Ballard Memorial, who was three outs away from its first win in six games to start the season, got two hits from Hunter Buchanan and Owens.

Trigg County evened its slate at 2-2 and will travel to Kenwood Monday.
