
The Caldwell County Tigers rode the two-hit pitching of Deontaye Walls to polish off Fort Campbell 10-0 in five innings at the VFW Ballpark in Princeton on Monday.
The Tigers (2-3) advance to the 2nd Region All A Classic semifinals, which will be played at the City Park in Dawson Springs on Tuesday. Caldwell plays Livingston Central in the late semifinal contest at 7:30. The Cardinals, who are 2-5, defeated Dawson Springs 9-1 in first-round action on Monday.
Crittenden County will play University Heights Academy in the first semifinal game at 5:30 at the Dawson City Park.
Tate VanHooser and Jamus Carneyhan were both 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. VanHooser doubled twice while Carneyhan had one double.
Caldwell scored twice in the first, three times in the third, two more in the fourth and three in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule.
Walls struck out six but did walk six in his five innings on the mound.
Brady Holeman, Logan Chambliss and Collin Whittington all knocked in runs with doubles for the Tigers.
Andrew Haughenberry and Giovanny Lopez had singles for Fort Campbell, which is now 0-5.
