If the opponent cannot hit the ball, you are usually in pretty good shape on the baseball diamond. Hopkinsville’s Jacob Dilday did his part on the mound Monday night for the Tigers, giving up just two hits as the Tigers rolled to a 10-0 mercy-rule win at home over Ohio County.
The shutout was the 4th thrown so far this season by a Tiger pitcher, as Hopkinsville moved to 6-0 on the season.
Dilday went all five innings on the mound, striking out four while walking only one.
The Tigers got all the offense they would need in the bottom of the second. Hopkinsville used four singles and an Eagle error to push across five runs to take the lead.
Hopkinsville would then add five more runs in the bottom of the third. The Tigers took advantage of three singles, an error, a hit batter, and a couple of walks in extending their lead to 10-0.
Ryan Myers led the Hopkinsville offensive attack. Myers went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Six other Tigers had one hit apiece in the game. Zach Moss and Landon Cook each scored twice in the game.
The Tigers scored their 10 runs on eight hits, taking advantage of five Ohio County errors. Hoptown had no errors of their own in the game.
The Tigers move to 6-0 with the win. They return to action Tuesday night on the road at Hopkins County Central.
