Alijah Watts Commits to Southwestern Illinois College

A Hopkinsville Tiger basketball player has announced his decision of where he will be attending college. In a social media post-Tuesday night, the Tiger’s Alijah Watts stated he would be continuing his athletic and educational career at Southwestern Illinois College.

During his senior season at Hopkinsville, which was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Watts averaged 15.2 points per game as the Tigers’ leading scorer. He was the team’s best three-point shooter at 40.0-percent from behind the arc. He also averaged 3.9 rebounds per game during the 2021 season. Watts helped lead the Tigers to a 7-5 record and an appearance in the 2nd Region semifinals.

His junior year, Watts averaged 13.4 points per game in just seven games of action. He added 4.4 rebounds per contest.

Southwestern Illinois College is a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference, in the National Junior College Athletic Association. The college is located in Belleville, Illinois.
