Conner Binkley’s first home run of the year was the primary offensive catalyst in helping host Logan County to a 9-1 baseball victory over Todd County Central. It was the lone hit of the game for designated hitter Binkley, but it served its purpose in sparking a five-run third inning in the runaway win. The Cougars had seven RBIs on eight hits and took advantage of four Rebel errors to move to earn their third win in eight games.

Todd Central’s Jacob Brandon (1-2) was saddled with the loss. The sophomore was touched up for three hits and five runs in 2 2/3 innings. He did strike out a trio of LCHS batters but surrendered four walks in defeat.

After falling behind 5-0 in the third inning, the Rebels scratched back a run in the top of the fourth, when Preston Rager drew a one-out walk, advanced to third base on Ethan Bicksler’s single to right, and scored on a Blake Wood wild pitch, cutting Logan’s lead to 5-1.

The Cougars countered, however, scoring once in the fourth and again in the fifth to take a commanding 7-1 advantage. Freshman Davin Yates then put the game out of reach with a two-run double in the sixth inning. Yates (2-for-3 with two runs, a walk, and an RBI) had a pair of two-baggers in the win.

Macon Barrow also had a solid night for the home squad, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a run, and another Cougar double. Wood (1-1) finished one out shy of a complete game, but did fan seven and allowed just two hits in his first pitching victory of the season.

Todd County Central (6-3) was also led by Bicksler and Tanner Farmer, who both went 1-for-3 and accounted for the Rebels’ lone hits, both of which were singles. Farmer and Jameson Hunt combined for 3 1/3 innings in relief, allowing five hits and four runs (two earned) combined.
