The Caldwell County Lady Tigers scored two runs in the top of the first inning on Tuesday and never trailed while dealing Livingston Central a 5-2 setback in the 2nd Region All A Classic softball semifinals at Lyon County.
Brylee Butts singled home the first two runs of the game to give Caldwell its early lead.
Livingston (6-2) got back within 2-1 and 3-2 but could never draw even.
Caldwell’s Shelby Lane doubled home a run in the fifth and was 2-for-4 while Allie Felker went 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Lady Tigers.
Caldwell added two insurance runs in the sixth inning to build its 5-2 advantage. Presley McKinney doubled home the first run. She then scored on a single by Illysa Stallins.
Meanwhile, Stallins was strong inside the circle for the Lady Tigers. Stallins gave up two earned runs on five base hits while striking out four and walking just one.
Victoria Joiner was 2-for-2 at the plate for Livingston with a double. Lauren Wring tripled for the Lady Cardinals
The Lady Tigers, now 3-3, will play Lyon County Thursday night for a trip to the state All A Classic in Owensboro.
The Lady Lyons routed University Heights 22-0 in Tuesday’s other semifinal contest.
