Trigg County picked up the first win of its softball season and the first win for Ashley Denfip as head coach with a 20-0 shutout of Dawson Springs.
In her first action in the circle this year, Kara Hyde tossed a one-hitter on just 26 pitches. 23 were strikes. The Lady Panthers’ lone hit was a first inning single by Kyleigh Vinson.
Trigg County managed nine hits in the game and scored 10 runs in the first inning.
Rylee Hendricks and Ashlyn Brown each had two hits for Trigg County and both knocked in a pair of runs. One of Hendricks’ hits was a triple.
Lillie Cortner had a double and drove in three runs, with Riley Taylor and Makenna Hendricks also driving in two runs.
Seven different players had Trigg’s nine hits.
Dawson Springs, who exited COVID-19 protocol Monday to begins its season, fell to 0-2 and will travel to McLean County Thursday.
Trigg County [1-2] will begin district play Friday with a home game against Crittenden County, who also exited COVID-19 protocol this week and missed playing in the All A Classic region tournament.
