Heritage Christian Academy took an early lead on Tuesday against visiting Franklin Road Christian School, but the Warriors were outscored 7-2 over the final four frames in a 12-7 loss to the Minutemen.
Weston Powell started the game on the mound for the Warriors, working the first 2.2 innings, surrendering 5 runs, only 1 earned, with 6 walks and 5 strikeouts. Powell helped himself in the bottom of the 1st with a bases-loaded double to drive in 3 runs and tie the game.
Powell grounded out to bring in the second of 2 runs in the second, but Franklin Road answered with 2 in the bottom of the inning. Four-straight singles and a Warrior error led to 3 runs in the Minutemen 4th, and they were in front the rest of the way.
Trenton Hayes followed a walk and two singles with a triple to score 2 and cut the Franklin Road advantage to a single run, but the Minutemen answered with 4 runs in the top of the 7th to put the game away.
