Former Caldwell County softball standout Emma Staples slammed her third home run of the season on Thursday as her Frontier College squad knocked off Lincoln Trail 7-1 in the first game of a doubleheader.
Frontier dropped the second game 7-5 in Robinson, Ill.
Staples was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBIs in the victory.
She was 2-for-4 and knocked in a run in game two.
Staples entered Thursday’s action hitting .358 this season with 21 runs batted in.
The Frontier Bobcats are 14-18 this season. They will play again on Saturday, with a doubleheader planned at Olney Central.
