HCA Warriors Fade in 14-2 Loss to Christian Community

A tight battle through the first four frames became a rout when visiting Christian Community put up 12 runs over the final three innings to knock off Heritage Christian Academy 14-2 on Friday.

The visiting Colts picked up a run in each of the 2nd and 3rd innings off HCA starting pitcher JJ Thompson, but the Warriors were still within striking distance after four.

Three of the first four Christian Community batters singled to start the 5th inning, pushing 2 runs across and chasing Thompson to bring in Grant Floyd in relief for the Warriors.  Thompson allowed only 4 hits over four innings of work, yielding 4 earned runs with 4 walks and 10 strikeouts.

The Colts put the game away with 5 more runs in each of the 6th and 7th innings for the final margin.  The Warriors pushed a run across in each of their last two at-bats, both scoring on passed balls.

Trenton Hayes had a pair of hits for the Warriors, with Triston Folz and Thompson each hitting safely once.

Connor Martin earned the win on the mound for Christian Community, pitching six innings and surrendering only a single earned run on 3 hits with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts.  He also led the way at the plate, collecting 3 hits and driving in 4 runs.

Garrett Oakley, Lawson Tea, and Brayden Chunn each had 3 hits and 2 RBI for the Colts.
