
The 13th District was not kind to Trigg County Saturday as the Lady Wildcats suffered a pair of 12-1 losses to Russellville and Logan County Saturday in the Kelly Russell Classic hosted by Russellville High.
In the opener, Reese Croslin tripled, homered, and drove in five runs to lead Russellville to its ninth win in 11 games. Madison Penrod added three hits and two RBIs, and Amayah Collier added a double, and two runs knocked in.
Collier also got it done in the circle with three innings of four-hit ball to get the win. She struck out three and walked just one.
Four different Lady Wildcats had a had with Chandlar Wilson’s double the lone extra-base hit for Trigg County.
Trigg scored its run in the fifth inning when Lillie Cortner walked and advanced to third where she later scored on a Rylee Hendricks groundout.
In the second game, Logan County [8-6] broke open a 1-1 tie with an eight-run third inning to grab control of the game. The Lady Cougars sent 13 batters to the plate and recorded eight hits.
Maddix Mowles had a two-run double followed by a two-run single by Shayla Johnson. Hailey Collins added to the carnage with a two-run home run to center for a 9-1 Lady Cougar lead.
Emerson McKinnis blasted a three-run homer in the fifth to round out the Logan scoring.
McKinnis was one of six Lady Cougars with two hits. Six of their hits went for extra bases.
K.K. Keller paced the Trigg County offense with two hits, including a run-scoring single in the second inning.
Trigg County [1-5] will play at Hopkinsville Monday before traveling to Christian Fellowship Tuesday.
