A single runner that reached on an error was the only blemish in a 5-inning no-hitter for Todd County Central’s Will Kearns on Friday, with the Rebels cruising to a 14-0 victory over visiting Dawson Springs.
The Rebels snap a 2-game skid to improve to 7-3 on the year with a road matchup with Nelson County coming up on Saturday. The Panthers, playing only their second game of the season, remain winless.
Up 2-0 after the 1st, Todd Central began the onslaught with a 5-run 2nd. Two walks and a hit by pitch loaded the bases and Ethan Bicksler drove in his 9th run of the year with a single. Tanner Farmer followed with a single to score 2, and the 7th run came across on a bases-loaded walk.
Jameson Hunt, Farmer, and Jacob Brandon each had RBI singles in a 3-run 3rd to build a 10-run advantage. Hunt capped his night with another run-scoring single in the bottom of the 4th for the final margin.
The Rebels only needed 7 hits and drew 9 walks from Dawson Springs’ starter Christopher Jones. Kearns struck out 7 and did not issue a walk to pick up his second win of the season on the mound.
