St. Mary pitcher Kaitlynn Burrus was untouchable for the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons Saturday. Burrus threw a five-inning perfect game and the Lady Vikings used a 13-run second inning to roll past the Lady Falcons 14-0.
Burrus controlled the day from inside the circle from the very beginning, striking out 13 of the 15 batters she faced. The other two Lady Falcons hit into ground outs.
In the big second inning, the Lady Vikings combined timely bit hits with six walks and one hit batter to score the 13 runs. All of the runs scored came after there were two outs in the inning.
Kiley McCrary and Alexsa Hoffman split time in the circle for the Lady Falcons.
The loss was the 7th straight to open the season for Fort Campbell.
