Todd Central Uses Offensive Balance to Edge Nelson County

Every Todd County Central player had at least one hit to back the pitching of three Rebels in a 6-4 win over Nelson County Saturday in the Kelly Russell Classic at Russellville High.

The Rebels scored twice in the first inning and four times in the third to account for the offense. Preston Rager doubled in the first inning and scored on an infield single by Tanner Farmer.  A wild pitch later scored Ethan Bicksler for a 2-0 Rebel lead.

In the third, Farmer, Jacob Brandon, and Nate Reding put together consecutive singles.  Farmer scored on an error to increase the Rebel lead to 3-1.  Todd added three more runs in the inning on two errors and a passed ball.

Rager pitched the first four innings to get the win, allowing two earned runs and five hits. He struck out four and walked one.  Brandon struck out the side in the seventh to notch the save.

Farmer had two of Todd Central’s 10 hits that were spread out among every starter.

Trey Proctor, Cannon Simpson, and Lincoln Boone each had two hits for Nelson County [5-6].

The Rebels improved to 8-3 and host Franklin-Simpson in a key 13th District game Tuesday.
