
The teams in the pool with the Lyon County Lady Lyons at the All-A Classic state softball tournament are now set. The pool play portion of the tourney will get underway Saturday morning at Jack Fisher Park in Owensboro.
Lyon County, champions of the 2nd Region, will begin play Saturday morning at 10:30 on the Blue Field as they take on the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces, the champions out of the 3rd Region. As of Sunday, O-Cath was 4-5 on the season. The Lady Aces’ losses include Daviess County, Greenwood, and Male. Their Kentucky wins have come over Whitesville Trinity, Edmonson County, and Hancock County in the 3rd Region All-A title game.
The Lady Lyons will move over to the Green Field for a 4 pm game against Louisville Holy Cross, the champions out of the 6th Region. The Lady Cougars, as of Sunday afternoon, were 5-3 on the season. Their losses have come to Manual, Oldham County, and Allen County-Scottsville. Holy Cross’s wins include victories over Eastern, Presentation, Butler County, Hancock County, and Beth Haven.
Lyon County will conclude pool play back on the Blue Field Saturday evening at 7:30 pm when they take on the 10th Region champion, Nicholas County. The Lady Jackets as of Sunday afternoon stood at 6-2 after having won six in a row coming out of COVID protocols. Their losses came to Fleming County and Greenup County. Their wins include Scott, Paris, Powell County, Mason County, Bracken County, and St. Patrick.
Lyon County heads into the new week at 5-6 on the season after a tough run in Georgetown over the weekend.
The winner and runner-up in pool play will advance to Sunday’s championship bracket, with bracket play beginning Sunday morning at 8:30 am.
