Scholarship Winners Among Those Recognized at Caldwell Football Awards

The five winners of the David Barnes Memorial Scholarship were among those honored at Caldwell County’s football awards ceremony Sunday in the CCHS cafeteria.

Receiving the scholarship named for Caldwell’s late head coach were seniors Russ Beshear, Tripp Branch, Travion Samuel, Sam Teutsch and Tate VanHooser.

Caldwell also recognized its players who were named to the All-WKC Team. Selected to the first team were Beshear, VanHooser, Baron Wells and Blake Vivrette. Selected honorable mention were Branch, Dalton Haney and Elijah Shaheen.

Players making the All-Purchase Team were Beshear, Vivrette and VanHooser.

Beshear was also honored for being named the Class 2A 1st District Player of the Year by the coaches association.

Caldwell’s seniors were each presented their white game jerseys from this past season.

The Tigers went 3-4 this past season, but two of those losses came to Murray while Caldwell also fell to Mayfield and Hopkinsville.

Caldwell continued lengthy winning streaks against both Crittenden County and Trigg County.
