Ladd Goes Five Shutout Innings as Lady Blazers Take Down Fort Campbell

The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers made it three wins in their last four outings Monday evening. UHA got five shutout innings from Mallory Ladd in the circle as the Lady Blazers rolled to a 9-1 8th District win over Fort Campbell.

Ladd gave up only two hits in her five innings of work, a single in the top of the third and another in the top of the fifth. She struck out six Lady Falcons while walking five in picking up the win.

UHA scored two runs in the bottom of the first and three more in the bottom of the second to take the early 5-0 lead. The Lady Blazers would add three insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the sixth to secure their third win of the season.

Ladd helped her own cause at the plate, going 2-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI, and a run scored. Regan Pollard ended up 2-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

While the Lady Blazers managed to score nine runs, Fort Campbell pitcher Kiley McCrary had her moments in the circle. McCrary finished the game giving up only five hits, striking out nine while walking only two.

Alexsa Hoffman and Samanth Forristal had the two hits in the game for the Lady Falcons. Forristal also had some big plays on defense at shortstop for Fort Campbell.

UHA improves to 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in the 8th District. The Lady Blazers are back in district action Tuesday night when they host Hopkinsville.

Fort Campbell drops to 0-8 overall and 0-1 in district play. The Lady Falcons are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Hopkinsville.
