Lady Lyons Power Past Crittenden 10-4

Lyon County belted eight extra-base hits to pick up a 10-4 softball win at Crittenden County Monday. The Lady Lyons improved to 6-6 by completing the season sweep of the Lady Rockets.

Calista Collins got Lyon County on the board in the first inning on a Calista Collins RBI double – one of five Lyon doubles in the game.

Crittenden evened the game in the home half of the first when Matthia Long singled home Ashlyn Hicks.

Collins and Melton hit back-to-back homers in the third inning to put Lyon up 3-1.

Crittenden got a run back in the third when Jessie Potter was hit with the bases loaded. However, the Lyons got a double play to end the Crittenden scoring threat to keep their lead at 3-2.

Melton and Kaelyn Conger had RBI singles in the fourth, and Gracen Wynn followed with a sacrifice fly to push the Lyon lead to 8-2.

Hadlie Butler doubled home a run in the fifth, and Conger followed with an RBI single to conclude the Lyon County scoring.

Long popped a two-run homer for Crittenden County in the seventh inning to cap a two-hit night.  Kalli Champion also had two hits for the Lady Rockets [2-4].

Butler had three of Lyon County’s 16 hits, including a double and a triple.  Rachel Coursey doubled twice, and Collins, Melton, Conger, Wynn, and Katelyn Dykes each had two hits.

Conger picked up the pitching win, allowing just five hits in five innings with one earned run and six strikeouts.

Lyon County [6-6] can wrap up the No. 1 seed in the district with a win at Livingston Central Tuesday.
