The Fort Campbell Falcons found themselves trailing 5-0 after the first inning and never recovered in Tuesday night’s 17-1 loss to hosts West Creek, TN.
The Falcons were outhit 15-2 and surrendered 9 runs in the decisive 3rd inning. Starting pitcher Landon Rhodd worked the first two innings, allowing 9 earned runs on 8 hits with 4 walks. Travis Doyle came on in relief, yielding 8 earned runs on 7 hits with 3 walks and a pair of strikeouts. Robert Dennis and Ethan Egner each had a hit for the Falcons and Dennis drove in the lone run.
Alexander Maust worked 3 innings to pick up the win for West Creek, holding the Falcons to only 2 hits and 1 run with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. He also led the way at the plate with 3 hits and 5 RBI, followed by Jackson Cook with a pair of base hits and 2 runs driven in.
The Falcons travel to Christian County on Tuesday for the second of three-straight on the road. Both teams will be looking for their first win in an 8th-District game that counts toward tournament seeding.
