Lasher Finishes Strong to Lead Livingston Central Past Trigg

Sydney Lasher outdueled Emma West in the circle to help Livingston Central edge Trigg County 5-2 Thursday in 5th District softball action at the Complex.

The Lady Cardinal senior allowed just two hits and struck out 13 batters.  West allowed only five hits for Trigg and fanned 10 while walking just one.

Livingston scored once in the first inning on a Victoria Joiner single. She stole three bases in the game and came around to score on a Lauren Wring groundout.

Trigg evened the score in the home half of the first when Rylee Hendricks singled and came around to score when Makenna Hendricks reached on an error.

Livingston added two runs in the third on a Joiner single, two errors, and a wild pitch.

Trigg got one run back in the third. Phelan Dossett walked, stole second, and scored on a hard single by Rylee Hendricks.

The Lady Cardinals got some needed insurance in the sixth inning on a two-run single by Madeline Norton.

Lasher retired the last 13 batters she faced, with eight of the outs coming by strikeout.

Joiner had two hits for Livingston Central, who improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in district play.

Trigg County dropped to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in 5th District play.  The Lady Wildcats host Lyon County Monday as they look to avoid the No. 4 seed in the postseason tournament.
