The Fort Campbell Falcons had their highest run output of the season Friday night. Problem was, so did the Hopkins County Central Storm. The Storm scored in every at bat as they cruised to a 21-11 win over the Falcons at Mortons Gap.
The Storm scored their 21 runs on just eight base hits, taking advantage of eight Fort Campbell errors in the game.
Central scored two in the first, three in the second, four in the third, 5 in the fourth, and then closed out the game with the ten-run rule by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Falcons took the early lead in the game, using three walks and a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead after a half-inning.
The Storm responded with nine unanswered runs to take a 9-1 lead after the third inning. Central took advantage of ten walks and three hit batters over the course of the three innings to get out to the lead.
However, Fort Campbell responded in a big way in the top of the fourth inning. The Falcons used a combination of three walks, three singles, and three doubles to push across ten runs and take an 11-9 lead. The big hits in the inning were back-to-back-to-back doubles from Robert Dennis, Ethan Egner, and Aidan Blaszkowski.
Fort Campbell pitching and fielding woes allowed Central to come back with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Storm would then close out the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, using two errors, two hit batters, and a walk to spark a seven-run rally. The first six batters in the inning all reached base for Hopkins Central.
Ethan Egner finished the game 2-3 with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored. Aidan Blaszkowski was 2-4, with a double and a run scored.
Hopkins Central’s Chase Brasher had one of the more interesting stat lines of the night. He had no official at-bats but did manage to score five runs in the game from his leadoff slot. Brasher walked three times and was twice hit by a pitch.
The loss drops the Falcons to 0-11 on the season. They are scheduled to host Kenwood Saturday.
