After pounding out 12 hits in a 17-1 win over UHA in their last outing, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers duplicated that feat on Friday to claim their second-straight win with a 14-3 victory over visiting Warren Central.
Hoptown got all the runs it would need in its first at-bat, pushing 5 across on RBI singles by Anna Hodge and Taylor Joachim and a run-scoring triple by Morgan Hodge.
The Lady Tigers erupted in the 2nd frame, collecting 6 base hits and stretching the advantage to 14-0. Anna Hodge’s RBI triple capped the inning, with Jakayla Grubbs, Shaniya Straight, and Joachim driving in runs.
Morgan Hodge held Warren Central scoreless over four innings before the Lady Dragons finally broke through. Natalie Naftal drove in the first run with a double and the second and third came in on an error and a bases-loaded walk.
Hodge yielded 3 runs, only 1 earned, on 4 hits with 9 walks and a pair of strikeouts to pick up the win.
Naftal took the loss, allowing 9 runs, 6 earned, on 11 hits with no walks and 2 strikeouts. She was also 3/3 at the plate with an RBI.
Kaitlyn Kaetzel, Anna Hodge, Straight, and Joachim each had 2 hits for the Lady Tigers. Grubbs also had a pair of hits and drove in 3 runs, with Anna Hodge and Joachim each driving in 2. Daijha Owen added 3 RBI.
Hopkinsville is scheduled to hit the road on Saturday to Cookeville, TN to take part in the Upper Cumberland’s Annual tournament.
