Atkins Wins Mile Event at Marshall County Ahead of Dream Mile

Chase Atkins warmed up for this weekend’s Dream Mile with a first-place finish Friday at the Chuck Gullo Relays hosted by Marshall County High School.

Atkins won the 1600-meter run in 4:26.33, which is three seconds off his fastest time of the season that qualified him for Friday’s run in Louisville against the best runners in the state.

As a team, Hopkinsville finished in 11th place with 14 points despite not having any jumpers or throwers compete.

HOPTOWN SCORERS

Chase Atkins – 1st in the 1600-meter run [4:26.33]

Chance Jones – 4th in the 1600-meter run [4:46.98]

 

The 3200-meter relay team finished second in 8:54.28.

The 6400-meter relay team was third in 20:40.
