A former Trigg County soccer standout will be turning a successful career at Brescia University into an opportunity to play at the semi-professional level this summer.

Kyle Bleidt scored 32 goals and earned All-Region recognition as a senior with the Wildcats before reinventing himself as a defender at the college level.  Bleidt just wrapped up his senior season with the Bearcats this spring while also doing his student teaching at Trigg County High School.  Over his career in Owensboro, he started over 50 matches with 4 goals and 7 assists while playing as a left outside defender.

The Fusion, based in Fargo-Moorhead on the North Dakota and Minnesota state line, has played in the National Premier Soccer League since May of 2017.  The NPSL is considered the fourth tier of professional soccer in America, although it has not been designated by U.S. Soccer, combining teams of both paid players and amateurs.  It is comprised of 96 teams playing in 14 conferences in four regions, with the Fusion competing in the North Conference of the Midwest Region.  Miami FC is the current two-time defending NPSL champion.
