The weather was not the only thing to make for a hard weekend for the tennis teams at Hopkinsville High School. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams were in Paducah to participate in the McCracken Invitational.
In pool play Saturday, both teams dropped pair of matches against top teams from Tennessee.
Both teams faced off against University School of Jackson in their opening match. USJ got by the Tigers 9-0, while the USJ girls defeated the Lady Tigers 8-1.
The second match for each team found them taking on Houston County. The results were the same as the first match, with Houston County boys winning 9-0, and the girls’ team winning 8-1.
Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers then moved on to the 5th place match on Sunday. The Tigers won a pair of matches against Union City, but fell 7-2.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Tigers defeated Bowling Green 5-4 in the 5th place match. The Lady Tigers got wins from Allie Fort, Abby Moss, Ella Brown, and Grasen Givens in singles play.
The doubles pairing of Allie Fort and Ella Lester also won the #1 doubles match over Bowling Green.
