After playing six games in two days and winning the All A Classic State Softball Tournament over the weekend, Lyon County was looking to continue its energy coming into Monday’s district game at Trigg County.

Eighth-grader Lilly Perry provided the spark they needed, pitching a three-hitter and striking out 13 in the Lady Lyons’ 8-3 win.  Perry walked just two and allowed two earned runs in picking up her second win in the circle.

Lyon County, who averaged more than 10 runs a game in winning the All A title, showed no signs of slowing down Monday with a four-run first inning. Lyon used three walks and a two-run double by Katelyn Dykes to jump ahead 4-0.

Rachel Coursey singled ahead of a Calista Collins homer to left in the second to increase the lead t 6-0.

Lyon added two more runs in the third. Dykes and Perry led off with singles. Hadlie Butler and Collins followed with RBI singles.

Trigg got a run back in the fourth when Rylee Hendricks walked and Phelan Dossett doubled her home. Dossett scored when Kiley Slone hit a hard grounder that wasn’t fielded cleanly.

Trigg closed out the scoring in the fifth when eighth-grader Lillie Cortner hit her first home run. The fly ball to left hit the top of the fence and carried over.

Two of Trigg’s three hits went for extra bases.

Collins and Dykes each had two of Lyon’s nine hits.

After struggling in the first inning, Emma West settled down for Trigg and allowed just two hits and four earned runs in five innings.

Lyon County improved to 13-6 overall and 2-0 in district play. They can secure the top seed in the district tournament Tuesday with a home win over Livingston Central.

Trigg County dropped to 3-7 and 0-3 in the district. The Lady Wildcats will be the No. 4 seed in the district tournament. Despite starting five middle schoolers, Trigg County has been outscored 18-7 against three district schools that have a combined 18 seniors.

The Lady Wildcats will host University Heights Academy Tuesday.
