After a one-week break to make way for the Oscars, American Idol is back on ABC-TV Sunday at 8 p.m. and Perryville’s Alyssa Wray will be trying to continue her quest to be the best of the best. She made the final 10 on the April 18 episode and Wray took to Twitter this week to remind her followers/supporters to vote again Sunday night.

“Voting on @AmericanIdol is live again this Sunday! That means it opens at the top of the show (8pmEST/5pmPST) and closes about 15 minutes before the show ends (around 9:45pmEST/6:45pmPST). The show will air live coast to coast! That means all west coast folks can tune in at 5,” Wray tweeted.

The show will have live performances but will also feature what the 12 finalists did during their week at Walt Disney World in Orlando. So it is a double show — the Disney episode and live performances.

Wray got a big vote of confidence this week from an unexpected source — Kentucky governor Andy Beshear. Here’s what he posted on Twitter:

“Kentucky, let’s make sure to tune in to @AmericanIdol and vote for one of our own, @itsalyssawray. Good luck Alyssa — you’re making the commonwealth proud!” Beshear posted.

She sure is and Wray said she was thrilled when she saw what the governor had done.

“Awe, this just made my day!! Thank you so so much, Governor Beshear!!!!” Wray posted after Beshear’s praise.

Of course, just a few days earlier she got a shout out from Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball coach Darrin Horn (Wray is a freshman at Northern and a former Boyle County basketball player).

“I will say it again…..SO MUCH TALENT here at @nkuedu that’s not on the fields or courts of play. We are all pulling for you @itsalyssawray,” Horn posted on Twitter.

Keep saying it Coach.

Wray has been sensational so far on the American Idol but each week it is more and more difficult to advance against elite talent. So make sure to watch and vote Sunday for Boyle County’s finest.
