Since back-to-back losses to UHA and Bowling Green, the Lyon County Lyons have started rolling again. Since they lost to Lyon County 15-0 in the opening week of the season, the Christian County Colonels have made significant progress, just not quite enough to take down one of the teams expected to contend for the 2nd Region title.

Lyon County got a three-hit pitching performance from Aidan Rush over five innings of work in picking up the win, as the Lyons, is business-like order, got by Christian County 7-2 Tuesday evening at Colonel Field.

The Lyons scored in five of their seven at-bats with their big inning being a three-run third.

Lyon County got the early lead in the top of the first when Gunnar Bingham singled and then later scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0.

The Colonels came back to tie the game in the bottom of the 2nd when Hayden Hunt singled and then scored on a double-steal attempt.

The Lyons then took the lead for good in the top of the third. Travis Yancy drove in a run with a double to make it 2-1. Peyton Williams would score on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 3-1. Travis Yancy would then score on a sac fly from Aidan Rush to make it 4-1 when the inning ended.

Christian County got one of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth when Josh Snorton scored on a sac fly to make it a 4-2 ballgame.

Lyon County would then add insurance with a run in the fifth and two more in the top of the seventh to close out the win.

Lyon County’s Gunnar Bingham finished 2-3 with three runs scored. Travis Yancy was 3-4 with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored. Aidan Rush ended up 1-2 with a double and two RBIs.

Christian County got a hit apiece from Chance Henderson, Josh Snorton, and Hayden Hunt.

Houston George got the start for Christian County, going three innings, giving up four earned runs, striking out three, and walking three.

With the win, which was their fourth in a row, the Lyons improve to 9-3 on the year. Christian County falls to 3-10.
