The Lyon County Lyons picked up their fifth-straight win with an 11-5 result over hosts Crittenden County on Friday, moving to 3-0 in 5th-District play and 10-3 overall.

The Rockets fall for only the second time in nine outings and lose to the Lyons for the second time this season to stand at 11-4.

Crittenden struck first in the bottom of the 1st, taking a 3-0 lead on an RBI double by Trace Adams and a run-scoring single from Gabe Mott.

The Lyons got to Crittenden starter Ben Evans in the top of the 3rd.  Evans issued 3 walks and was victimized by two Rocket errors to go with RBI singles by Jackson Shoulders and Aidan Rush.

Adams replaced Evans and got the final two outs of the frame with Lyon County leading 5-3.  Evans yielded 5 runs, 3 earned, on 4 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Up 5-4 in the 5th, the first two Lyon batters drew walks and an error loaded the bases, ending Adams’ time on the mound.  Logan Bailey came on for Crittenden, yielding 3 runs on a sacrifice fly and a Yancy RBI single.

Yancy pitched into the bottom of the 5th for the Lyons but gave way to Aidan Rush after allowing the Rockets’ 5th run on a wild pitch.  Yancy surrendered 5 runs, 4 earned, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.  Rush coaxed a double-play grounder from the first batter he faced to end the threat.

The Lyons added a run on a passed ball in the 6th and Gunnar Bingham capped the night with an RBI single for the final margin.  Rush allowed only a single hit and no runs with one strikeout over the final 2.2 innings.

Bingham had 3 hits and drove in 3 runs, with Yancy adding 2 RBI.  Shoulders, Rush, Christian O’Daniel, Eli Baker, and Aiden Waters each chipped in an RBI.

Adams and Mott each drove in a pair of runs for the Rockets and Caden McCallister was 2/3 at the plate.
