If the Daviess County Lady Panthers play like they did in their first game of the day Saturday at Christian County, they will be a hard out in the 3rd Region come the postseason. Sophomore pitcher Raylee Roby pitched the first shutout against the Christian County Lady Colonels all season, limiting Christian County to just two hits in an impressive 7-0 win.

Roby went all seven innings in the game, striking out eleven while walking only one.

Meanwhile, her teammates broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth, and then scored a total of seven runs over the next four innings to get the win. The biggest chunk of the damage was done in the top of the 5th inning. Christian County had two errors to start the inning, giving the Lady Panthers runners at first and second with no outs. Two doubles, a single, and a ground out later, the deficit was 5-0, which was far more than Roby would need on this Saturday.

Christian County’s only hits in the game were an Avery Adcock single in the third and a Pickle Winkler single in the sixth.

Riley Hancock got the start in the circle for Christian County. She gave up seven runs, but only three of them were earned, as the Lady Colonels, at times, had their struggles in the field. She gave up seven hits, struck out two, and walked five.

Kelsea Roby was the big story at the plate for Daviess County, going 2-2 with three RBIs.
