Complete Effort Sends Lyons Past Trigg 10-0

Brady Darnell and Corey Cissell combined on a four-hit shutout to lead Lyon County to a 10-0 district win over Trigg County Monday in Eddyville.

Aidan Rush and Travis Yancy homered to back the Lyon pitching. Rush began the game with a leadoff home run, and Yancy ended with a walk-off double in the fifth inning.

Darnall went the first three innings to get the win, allowing one hit and striking out three.  Cissell pitched the final two frames, fanning four and giving up three hits.

After Rush’s leadoff homer, Lyon scored three more runs on a bases-loaded walk, hit by a pitch and walk.

Yancy’s homer came in the second inning to extend the lead to 5-0. Lyon ended the game with two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth inning.

Eli Baker had a two-run single in the fourth inning to push the Lyon advantage to 7-0.

Lyon County loaded the bases in the fifth. Darnall scored on a wild pitch, and Yancy followed with a two-run double to center to end the game.

The Lyons scored 10 runs on just five hits. Yancy had two hits and three RBIs. Trigg pitchers yielded 11 walks and hit a batter.

Dallas Ahart pitched well in relief for the Wildcats, giving up one earned run in two innings pitched with four strikeouts.

Lyon County (12-3) can clinch the top seed in the district tournament with a win Tuesday at Livingston Central.

Trigg County (5-9) will travel to Christian County Tuesday.
