Christian County ‘Thunders’ Past Fort Campbell in Storm-Shortened Game

Gracie Harned pitched three innings of no-hit ball as the Christian County Lady Colonels rolled by Fort Campbell 10-0 and edged out Mother Nature Thursday evening. Normally, the run rule for ending a game after three innings is at 15 runs, however, with dark clouds, wind, and lightning moving in from the northwest, both teams agreed to end the game after two and a half innings.

Harned only allowed one base runner in her three innings in the circle, that coming on a walk to Samantha Forristal in the top of the first inning. Forristal was later thrown out while attempting to steal second. Harned had eight strikeouts on the evening.

The Lady Colonels scored four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. The big hit in the inning was an RBI single from Harned herself that drove in a pair of wins.

Christian County would then plate six runs in the bottom of the second inning. Karlee Crick pushed across two runs with a sacrifice bunt. Tenley Gilbert hit a solo shot to center. And, Gracie Harned had another RBI single, as the Lady Colonels pushed the lead out to 10-0.

Harned finished the game 2-2 with 3 RBIs. Tenley Gilbert ended up 1-2, with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

Christian County moves to 13-4 overall, and 1-0 in the district with the win.

Fort Campbell falls to 2-10 and 0-2.
