It was one of the best performances of the year in the circle Friday evening for Lyon County’s Kaelyn Conger. The senior pitcher gave up only one run as the Lady Lyons picked up their 11th straight win in a 4-1 victory over Graves County at Lee S. Jones Park.
Conger was on her game from the very beginning setting down the first eleven batters she faced, seven of those by strikeout. Conger would finish the game with a total of 14 Ks against the Lady Eagles. The only true blemish on her night was a 4th inning home run from opposing pitcher Bailey Wimsatt.
The Lyon County offense would generate all of the offense Conger needed over the first couple of innings.
Sydney Melton smashed a home run to centerfield in the bottom of the first inning to make it 1-0.
The Lady Lyons would add two more in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 3-0. The big hit in the inning was an RBI double from Hadlie Butler.
After the lead had been trimmed to 3-1, Conger helped her own cause with an RBI single in the bottom of the 5th to push the lead back out to 4-1.
Katelyn Dykes led the way for the Lady Lyons, going 3-3, with a double and a run scored.
With the win, the Lady Lyons improve to 16-6 on the year. They return to action Monday at Madisonville.
