Jackson Shoulders and Gunnar Bingham slammed home runs while Aidan Rush shut out Union County on four base hits as Lyon County picked up a 10-0 win in five innings Monday in Eddyville.
Shoulders hit a three-run bomb during a five-run third inning that turned a 1-0 Lyon lead into 6-0 and the Lyons were on their way.
Shoulders singled home the game-ending run in the bottom of the fifth to give the Lyons the mercy-rule victory. That came after Bingham’s two-run homer to right-center three batters earlier in the inning,
Shoulders was 2-for-2 at the plate with four RBIs. He walked twice and scored twice.
Bingham finished 2-for-4 and drove in two. Brody Williams was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Travis Yancy was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Brady Darnall doubled home a pair of runs as part of Lyon’s big third-inning uprising. Rush also added a double to the Lyons’ 11-hit total.
On the mound, Rush scattered four singles. He struck out four and walked just one.
The win was the 10th in 11 games for the Lyons, who are now 15-4.
Union County is now 12-12.
Lyon will play at home again on Tuesday, hosting 5th District foe Livingston Central.
