Crittenden County used the long ball and strong pitching from Chandler Moss to secure a 10-0 district win over Trigg County in Marion Monday.
The Crittenden County senior pitched a three-hitter and struck out four in lowering her season ERA to 2.12. She only needed 58 pitches to get the five-inning win. Moss also had two hits including a solo home run in the third inning.
Ashlyn Hicks reached base three times. She doubled home two runs in the second inning and hit a two-run opposite-field home run in the fourth.
Freshman Riley Smith added three hits, including a double, and seventh-grader Elliot Evans ended the game with an RBI double in the fifth to push the lead to 10-0.
Trigg County’s three hits were by middle schoolers MaKenna Hendricks, Kiley Slone, and Lillie Cortner. Trigg started six middle schoolers in the game and sat three starters [coach’s decision].
The Lady Rockets have won seven of eight games and stand at 9-5 with a road game up next Tuesday at Hopkins County Central.
Trigg County is 4-10 and will play at Murray Tuesday.
